My research interests are in the areas of survey research, public policy, and voting. They include, but are not limited to: survey methodology, public opinion, voting behavior, educational policy, environmental economics, and empirical methods/econometrics. My recent work has focused primarily on Internet-based survey methodology and selection bias in surveys and program evaluation. While I am very interested in survey research and consider surveys to be a fundamental tool to understanding individual beliefs and behavior, my substantive interests are involve understanding incentives and individual beliefs and behaviours. I also have serious methodological/econometrics interests especially in reference to discrete choice analysis, sample selection bias, and program evaluation.

During the summer of 2005, I worked on a large interdisciplinary teaching project which focuses on how our transportation decisions affect the environment. Working with 2 students and in partnership with 30 faculty members who represent 20 different departments around campus, I led the development of teaching modules on the environment that will be implemented in existing classes around campus. The objective was to encourage students to be aware of the externalities involved in consumption and to recognize what can be done to off-set any negative environmental impacts. As part of this project, we developed a website and are now offering a tool to facilitate carpooling among MTA students, staff and faculty. You can check out the details at MTA's eco-cdn website.
