John A. Phillips '85/'86


TERM: MAY 2015-2018

John graduated from Mount Allison with a Bachelor of Arts ('85) and a Bachelor of Education ('86) degree. While at MtA John was a five-year starter on the Mounties Football team during their great run in the early-mid 80’s.  John was also very active on campus as a regular employee of the Tantramarsh Club; lifeguarding at the pool; and participating fully in intramural and residence life.

Since graduating from MtA, John has worked for the Halton District School Board as a Teacher (History, Physical Education, Co-op, and as a Head of Guidance) and as an administrator in multiple roles over the past 28 years. 

His teams have won Ontario Championships in Football and competed in provincial championships in Basketball and Volleyball as well. Many former students have gone on to NCAA scholarships as well as to play in the CIS for schools across the country. John is currently the Principal of Oakville Trafalgar High School - a Gr. 9-12 school of over 1,200 students.

John has been an active member of the 5th Quarter Club assisting with recruiting events in the GTA as well as helping with the creation of the Bloyce Bulman Memorial Golf Tournament held in Moncton each summer. John also maintains close ties with the Admissions and Recruiting Office in his role as a High School Administrator promoting Mount Allison in the schools where he has worked.

He currently resides in Oakville with his partner Laura (Mason) ‘84 and their two daughters Jamie and Jennie.
