Meg (Gowdy) Pryde
TERM: MAY 2014-2017 (1st term)
Meg graduated from Mount Allison with a BA in Canadian Studies in 1974. She was extremely active in the university community during her time on campus, as a member of both the hockey and swim teams as well as serving on the Frosh, Intramurals, Women’s Athletics, and Food committees, performing in Winter Carnival variety shows, and acting as Windsor Hall President and Monitor and then as Assistant Don. In recognition of this involvement, Meg was awarded both a Golden “A” and the Francis S. Allison awards upon graduation.
After Mount Allison, Meg attended Queen’s University and graduated in 1976 with her BEd. She then spent the next 36 years teaching various grades in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, including some time as Vice Principal and Principal of two schools, and “relief” teaching in New Zealand and Australia. She retired in 2011.
Meg has just begun her term on the Alumni Board but has been active in the alumni community for the past 15-20 years in her local area by hosting future student gatherings in her home and encouraging high school students to consider becoming Allisonians, Meg sits on the Homecoming and Reunion Committee of the Board.
