Rick Gant '84
TERM: MAY 2015-2018
Rick attended Mount Allison from 1980 to 1984 to attain a BSc in Geology. He was recruited to play varsity football, receiving special teams and longevity awards. He was also a member of the swim team and served on the Campus Police.
Following Mount Allison, Rick attended the University of Strasbourg in the International French Immersion Program.
Rick started his career on Baystreet in 1987 and joined RBC in 1989 where he worked for 26 years, retiring in May 2015. While he was there, Rick held management positions in Treasury, Accounting, Pension Payments, Securities Lending and Foreign Exchange prior to being transferred back to Halifax in 1996 as Director of Relationship Management for Atlantic.
While in Halifax, Rick received an MBA in Finance from Dalhousie, was the President of Sunshine Dreams for Kids, Halifax Chapter and the Treasurer for the Canadian Pension Benefits Institute, Atlantic. Rick was transferred to Vancouver in 2006 to become the Regional Head of Western Canada for RBC Global Services and transferred back to Halifax in 2013 to head up the Atlantic Region before retiring from the bank after they closed the Atlantic division.
Rick now acts an Advisor and Mentor for the “Starting Lean” Program at Dalhousie University. He is looking into a new career and remains an avid outdoorsman; kayaking, canoeing, camping, skiing and is currently teaching himself to play guitar.
