The department of geography and environment helps students better understand the complexities of the world we live in and the consequences of our actions — or inaction.

The department is focused on experiential learning. Students are as likely to find themselves outdoors collecting samples, participating in a GPS scavenger hunt, or taking their concerns to town hall as they are to find themselves in a lecture hall.

Faculty firmly believe their students learn by doing and they create as many opportunities for them to do so as possible, both during classes and by inviting them to partner in their own research.
