Scott Jones ('08)
Scott Jones graduated from Mount Allison in 2008 with a Bachelor of Music degree.
In 2013, he was attacked in his hometown of New Glasgow, NS, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. In spite of this adversity and the struggles that have come with adapting to his new life, he has continued to move forward through many obstacles while continuing to maintain his sense of humor and a positive and optimistic outlook.
Since his attack, Scott and his friends initiated the Don't BE Afraid campaign, aimed at starting a conversation about homophobia and transphobia in society. He has also taken on a new view of life with the mantra: "Do not let fear overtake you. Just look at your fear and explore it."
In October 2014 he took part in a fundraiser for Easter Seals, an organization that promotes mobility, inclusion and independence for Nova Scotians with disabilities, and rappelled down the side of Halifax's tallest office building.
