    Sedimentology laboratory
    The sedimentology lab has:
  • two electronic balances: determines the mass of a sample
  • drying oven: dries samples for analysis and determines water content
  • muffle furnace: determines the organic matter content of a sample using a loss-on-ignition method
  • Coulter LS200 size analyzer: uses laser diffraction technology to measure the particle size distribution of a sample from 0.4 to 2000 micrometres diameter
  • vacuum pump
  • glassware
