 Coastal Wetlands Institute - Location

Mount Allison University is located on the edge of one of the largest coastal marshes in North America, the Tantramar Marsh. This salt and freshwater marsh ecosystem links two major coastal oceanic ecosystems, the Bay of Fundy to the southwest and the Northumberland Strait of the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the north. The coastal wetlands along the Bay of Fundy and the Gulf are extensive and diverse ecosystems that support important fisheries, wildlife, agriculture, aquaculture, tourism, and leisure activities such as walking, cycling, and bird watching.
