All employees and supervisors have Health and Safety Responsibilities.
Employee
responsibilities are:
- To comply
with the Occupational
Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
- To comply
with specific University Health and Safety policies, rules, and regulations.
- To use
the equipment and clothing provided or required.
- To report
any dangers in the workplace.
- Not
to make any safety device ineffective.
- Not
to use any dangerous equipment or machine.
- Not
to engage in horseplay.
Supervisor
responsibilities are
- To comply
with the Occupational
Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
- To comply
with the specific University Health and Safety policies, rules, and
regulations.
- To ensure
that all workers under their supervisor comply with #1 and #2.
- To ensure
that all workers use the safety equipment, devices, and clothing provided
or required.
- To advise
workers of danger.
- To provide
specific written instructions for the protection of the worker where
they could be of value.
- To take
every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection
of the worker.
Please note:
It
is everyone's responsibility to report all accidents, injuries, and incidents.
The Human Resources Office (extension 2280) or a representative of one
of the University Health & Safety subcommittees should be notified
immediately. Examples of incidents are: hazardous situation, close call,
and property damage.
