  Employee / Supervisor Responsibilities

All employees and supervisors have Health and Safety Responsibilities.

Employee responsibilities are:

  • To comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
  • To comply with specific University Health and Safety policies, rules, and regulations.
  • To use the equipment and clothing provided or required.
  • To report any dangers in the workplace.
  • Not to make any safety device ineffective.
  • Not to use any dangerous equipment or machine.
  • Not to engage in horseplay.

Supervisor responsibilities are

  • To comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
  • To comply with the specific University Health and Safety policies, rules, and regulations.
  • To ensure that all workers under their supervisor comply with #1 and #2.
  • To ensure that all workers use the safety equipment, devices, and clothing provided or required.
  • To advise workers of danger.
  • To provide specific written instructions for the protection of the worker where they could be of value.
  • To take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the worker.
  • Please note:

It is everyone's responsibility to report all accidents, injuries, and incidents. The Human Resources Office (extension 2280) or a representative of one of the University Health & Safety subcommittees should be notified immediately. Examples of incidents are: hazardous situation, close call, and property damage.
