1. What is "Scent Sensitivity"?
People with asthma, allergies, migraines, or sensitivities to a muliplicity of chemicals, can experience serious health reactions when exposed to scents in a wide range of personal care, health, and cleaning products.

2. What are some products that may contain scents?
Besides the obvious ones (perfumes, colognes, and aftershaves), there are shampoos and conditioners, soaps, deodorants/anti-perspirants, hand lotions and sanitizers, hair sprays, potpourri, candles, room deodorizers, and a wide variety of cleaning products.

3. Why should this matter to me?
Co-workers, students, faculty, and staff may experience headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, weakness, anxiety, confusion, shortness of breath, asthma, and other respiratory symptoms which may result in errors, loss of productivity, lost time, and prolonged absences from work.

4. What can I do to help?
Individuals who are approached by a co-worker or manager can reduce their impact on scent sensitive individuals by reducing or eliminating scented products he/she uses.

5. Where can I find alternative products?
Most drug and department stores carry fragrance free or unscented products. If they do not, they will usually order in these products if requested. Many health food stores also carry these products.
