Campus Police


The Mount Allison University Campus Police are a student staffed and run organization, although they are part of MTA Security and are the direct responsibility of the Director of Security. Campus Police Officers have the same authority as MTA Security Officers and work in coordination with our full time officers.


What

Mount Allison's Campus Police Service is a large group of students who provide security services:

(a) for any campus event outside the residences where liquor is being served.

(b) for high profile events such as football games, Winter Carnival, Junior Prom, guest speakers, concerts, Performing Arts, etc.

(c) when requested by a residence Don for a house party where alcohol is to be served.

(d) external events - such as local and MTA hockey games played off campus.

(e) Campus Police Service may be required to attend a University Judicial Committee hearing to provide evidence.


The main role of the service at these events is to ensure a level of decorum exists and that the University's policies, procedures and guidelines are obeyed, is responsible for ensuring that all campus, municipal and provincial laws are enforced.


Why

The Campus Police Service exists to maintain the safety of both students and property at Mount Allison University, as well as to protect the liquor licence privilege granted to the University by the Province of New Brunswick. The service not only provides employment to interested students, but also allows students to get involved in the safety of their campus.


Who

Any student can apply to be a Campus Police Officer, providing the student is currently enrolled at Mount Allison University

How

Available work is advertised to the entire service by e-mail, including an outline of the event. Each individual member isresponsible for signing-up for any event the individual would like to work at. You may apply by sending your resume and contact information to: campuspolice@mta.ca


When

Campus Police Officers may be called upon to work any day of the week, at any hour of the day, 12 months a year.
