While many universities charge fees on top of tuition, we include most fees within the general tuition fee — so the cost of a Mount Allison education is not as high as you might think.
Entrance Scholarship Program
Students with a calculated admissions average of 80% or higher on their Grade 12 mid-year transcript, and who have submitted all required documents, including an application for admission to the university, by the March 1 scholarship deadline, will be automatically considered for a guaranteed entrance scholarship starting at $500/year.

Increasing the value of your Entrance Scholarship:
At Mount Allison we believe what you do outside the classroom is just as important to your personal development as your academic achievement and our scholarship program is designed to reflect this. Beyond the guaranteed amounts, any entrance scholarship has the potential to be increased in value up to $5,000/year based on extracurricular involvement, leadership potential, community service, letters of reference, and work or internship experience.
Entrance scholarship decisions are made by committee and successful candidates will be notified of their award by letter(s).

All entering students who indicate the intention to pursue a course of study leading to a career as a medical doctor will automatically be considered for the Goodridge Scholarship.Entrance scholarships awarded to entering students are tenable as long as the student is carrying a full course load of 30.0 credits over the Fall and Winter terms, and all other conditions of the award are fulfilled.

Major Scholarships

• Bell Scholarships
Established in 2002 as the premier entrance scholarship at Mount Allison, the Bell Scholarships are among the largest undergraduate awards in Canada. The scholarships celebrate students who have demonstrated strong academic ability, leadership potential, volunteer work, extracurricular activities, work experience, and good citizenship.
You may apply for one of six Bell Scholarships valued at $12,000 per year and one of five Bell Achievement Awards valued at $9,000 per year, all of which are renewable over four years. In order to be considered for this prestigious award, you must submit a separate application including an essay, three reference letters, Grade 12 official transcript with final grades for your first term courses, and a summary of your leadership, volunteer, extracurricular and work experience.

• Leta G. Hill Scholarship
The Leta G. Hill Scholarship was established by Charles Hill in loving memory of his wife, Leta. The award is valued at $40,000 and is paid in four annual installments of $10,000. The scholarship is awarded to a student from Nova Scotia, with preference to students in Colchester County or East Hants County, who have demonstrated financial need and declare the intent to study medicine.

• Herbert S. Sharp Scholarship
These scholarships were established by Herbert S. Sharp, Class of 1890 at Mount Allison, to be awarded to young men and women who were born in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or Prince Edward Island, who are protestant, with preference given to members of the United Church of Canada and to applicants from Prince Edward Island. Recipients must declare that they will abstain from the use of tobacco in any form. There is a strong financial need component to this award and students must have a recommendation from their minister. These $2,000 scholarships are renewable for each year of study if the student maintains a GPA of 3.3 on a full course load. Download the 2013-2014 Entrance Scholarship Application.
