Mount Allison has been a founding partner in the prestigious Killam Fellowships
Program. This Program involves a partnership between the American
Killam Trusts and the Foundation for Educational Exchange Between Canada
and the United States. The purpose of this partnership is to create a
high level scholarship exchange program for third year university students
- providing the opportunities to attend university in the country other
than their home country (Canada or U.S.) and participate in the life of
the host community for one academic year thereby fostering Canadian-American
relations.
Each partner University has the ability to nominate one to three students
for consideration of this scholarship which has a value of $10,000 USD.for
a full academic year, and $5,000 for a single semester. Mount Allison
students will pay tuition to Mount Allison as though they were still a
student here. Students would then be considered a guest at the American
institution, therefore the tuition fees of American education do not apply
to you. The $10,000 USD scholarship is intended to pay for your flight,
living expenses etc. Students who apply will be reviewed for recommendation
by the Committee for International Programs, reporting to the Vice-President,
Academic and Research who will make recommendations to the Killam Fellowship
Foundation.

Students applying to the Killam Fellowship Program are
asked to carefully follow the instructions provided by the Killam Fellowship
Foundation in the application. All applications submitted will first be
adjudicated by the Committee on International Programs at Mount Allison.
The Committee's responsibility is to select one to three candidates who
will then be recommended to the Vice-President, Academic, Mount Allison.
The Vice-President will then carry out interviews of those selected candidates
and determine which names will be submitted to the Killam Fellowship Foundation.
In light of this process, please also submit a resume or c.v., outlining
the extra-curricular activities you have achieved over the years. There
is no opportunity to express this on the Killam application and the Committee
for International Programs would like to consider those aspects during
their review of applicants. The resume/c.v. would be for our files only.
The Committee will also review transcripts (you are not required to submit
an additional copy for the Committee)
of all applicants.
Please also consider the following points when applying:
1. As you are required to have two separate referees
and the referee letters are only for the Foundation and the Committee
for International Programs at Mount Allison, you only need to have one
original of each letter and one copy of each for the Committee.
2. This scholarship is primarily based on academics, therefore please
consider seriously having at least one referee who can comment on your
academic performance.
