Marjorie Young Bell Faculty Start Up Grants

 
 Purpose

To provide support for new faculty members at Mount Allison University to establish their programs of research and scholarship.

 Eligibility
Individuals must be starting a tenure-track appointment at Mount Allison. New faculty members who are hired with tenure are also eligible.
 
Amount
$40,000 per annum, to be supplemented with at least $20,000 per annum from other funds. The total amount shall comprise the “Marjorie Young Bell Faculty Start Up Grants.”
 
Allocation Process and Use of Funds

Marjorie Young Bell Faculty Start Up Grants will be allocated at the discretion of the Vice-President, Academic and Research, during the recruitment process. Any unexpended amount shall normally be recapitalised, but may be carried over to the next year (thus increasing the total amount available for allocation) with the permission of the Marjorie Young Bell Endowment Fund Committee.

Funds may be used as seed money for other grant applications; equipment; renovations; personnel; travel. All expenditures must conform to Mount Allison’s policies and procedures.

 
Duration
Any funds that remain unexpended at the end of the faculty member’s second academic year (30 June) shall be returned and recapitalised.
 
Reporting

The Vice-President, Academic and Research, shall report to the Marjorie Young Bell Endowment Fund Committee on an annual basis concerning the allocation of the fund.
