- POLICY |
University-provided
telephones in offices, shops or public areas (e.g. classrooms, laboratories,
reception areas, etc.) are intended for the conduct of University business.
They are tools for use in carrying out the Institution's day-to-day
affairs and must be kept free for that purpose.
Public
pay-phones are provided by NBTel at locations throughout the campus
and are not subject to the same concern for use.

Personal Outgoing Calls |

2.1.1 |
Timing
Personal
outgoing calls, when required, are to be made before shift, after
shift, or during breaks.
|

Purpose
and Location
Personal
outgoing calls using University-provided telephones are to be kept
brief, respecting the need to keep the lines open for University
business. Personal outgoing calls are to be restricted to local
calls unless long distance charges are directed to a personal billing
number.

Emergency
Messages
Facilities
Management staff are asked to notify family and friends that, in
the event of an emergency during the day, calls for an employee
should be made to the Facilities Management Receptionist at 364-2444.
During the night shift, calls should be made to the Heating Plant
at 364-2452. The receptionist will ensure that a supervisor delivers
the message to the employee immediately.
