Mail Services

Services for Departments

Please note: Mail Services at Mount Allison are for university related mail only. Personal mail must be directed to your personal civic address.

All departments receive drop-off and pickup mail service twice each working day. The mail van leaves the Fawcett Building at 10:45am and 2:00pm to begin the campus mail rounds. Incoming mail is picked up at Canada Post each morning at 8:30am and sorted by DSS staff by department and building for delivery. Mail runs include external incoming mail to Mount Allison, interdepartmental campus mail picked up on the last mail run, finished copy jobs and all courier envelopes received up until the van leaves Fawcett Building.

DSS staff can provide the same services as Canada Post. Customs signing, registered mail, business reply mail, Priority Post, International, US, Canadian letter mail and package mail can be sent out or received. Quotes are available for staff needing costs for budget purposes. Please ensure that all outgoing mail has a correct civic address and the department return address on each letter or envelope.

Sending a copy job by mail?
Please use the navy blue plastic envelopes provided for sending originals in the campus mail. Finished copy jobs are wrapped in brown paper for return in the next mail run or put on the next freight truck delivery (each day after 1:00pm).

Sending courier letters or packages?
Please use the red "COURIER" stickers provided so Support Services staff can quickly retrieve and process your important courier deliveries. All letters or packages with the COURIER stickers are sent out the same day.

Sending outgoing mail?
We use Ascom mailing equipment to metre the outgoing mail and charge back the postage costs to the department. Every effort is made to find the fastest and cheapest way of sending your mail off campus. Most mail picked up during the day is metred and sent out the same day. Exceptions are the heavy mail days where large numbers of envelopes are picked up from departments late in the afternoon mail run.

Sending large mailouts?
Please let us know in advance if you are sending out large numbers of envelopes as we do not keep large amounts of postage loaded on our metre. Your large mail outs may be held back if our metre is running low on postage.
