Greek
1000 ELEMENTARY GREEK
An intensive course for beginners designed to develop rapidly a reading facility in Greek. Reading of prescribed texts, grammar, and composition. New Testament Greek: A section of Greek 1000 based on the Greek of the New Testament will be added when sufficient demand occurs. See the departmental handbook for details.

2000 INTERMEDIATE GREEK
The course is designed as the sequel to Greek 1000. Emphasis will be placed on developing fluency in reading Greek prose and poetry, with study and exercise on particular points of grammar.
Prereq: Greek 1000; or permission of the Department.

3000 SURVEY OF GREEK LITERATURE
An introduction to Greek literature through selected readings of ancient authors.
Prereq: Greek 2000; or permission of the Department.

4000 THE GREEK EPIC
A reading of selections from the works of Homer and other relevant texts.
Prereq: Greek 3000; or permission of the Department.

4100 GREEK TRAGEDY
Development of Greek Drama; study of the great tragic poets.
Prereq: Greek 3000; or permission of the Department.

4200 GREEK PHILOSOPHY
Selected readings in Greek philosophical texts from the Pre-Socratics to Aristotle.
Prereq: Greek 3000; or permission of the Department.

4950/4951 SPECIAL PROJECT IN GREEK
Directed reading and study of a special topic in Greek language or literature, or in Greek history.
Prereq: Permission of the Department.
