3001 INTRODUCTION TO GENERAL LINGUISTICS
A study of the origins, history, and nature of language: phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, language change and semantics. The course is given in English.
Prereq: A minimum of six credits in English and at least six credits in another language; or permission of the Department.
3011 LANGUAGE AND SOCIETY
An introduction to issues and methods in sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics and applied linguistics, including topics in language variation, language and culture, the contact of languages and bilingualism, language planning, first and second language acquisition. The course is given in English.
Prereq: A minimum of six credits in English and at least six credits in a language other than English; or permission of the Department.
3141 PSYCHOLINGUISTICS
This lecture and laboratory course will describe our present state of knowledge concerning the mechanisms underlying the production, comprehension, and use of language.
Prereq: Psychology 2101, 2011; or permission of the Department.
