On September 20th, 2001 the Climate Change
Caravan finished their cross-Canada cycling adventure.
This site is
currently on its way to becoming an archive of the project, as well as a source
of information on what comes next!
Please be patient and in the
meantime, check our updates for a
full report on each week of the journey.
Since leaving Tofino on May 7th, 2001, the Climate Change Caravan
has been engaged in a self-propelled, fossil-fuel-free
movement across Canada. We have visited communities across the
nation, ending in Halifax on September 20th, 2001.
The project has been started by a group of students at Mount
Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. Close to 30 cyclists
are
now participating. People of all ages
and walks of life are invited to join the tour!
The aim is to engage Canadians on the issue of climate change in
order to effectively reduce the concentration of greenhouse gas
emissions that are the result of our present lifestyles. The
Climate Change Caravan project will:
- teach canadians about the science and impacts of climate change
- demonstrate practical ways people can reduce their personal
greenhouse gas emissions
