Psychology Society Tutor Program
Because we know first hand how challenging many psychology courses can prove to be, we understand the importance of a well structured tutor program. This year, we hope to match any student who approaches us for class help with a peer tutor.

How it works if...
...I would like to have a Psych Society peer tutor: To help you meet the demands of a particular psychology course, you may consider hiring a peer tutor. Submit your name and the course you would like help with to psychsociety@mta.ca and we will match you with a peer who is comfortable with the class material. Whether you would like a tutor for the full semester, to help you go over material for a midterm, or would just like someone to explain a particular concept, we will find you the perfect match! Many student tutors ask for an hourly pay. Wages typically run between $8-10 per hour, however these details must be arranged between you and your peer tutor. Please give us your name a couple of weeks in advance---we probably won't have someone ready to run over to your room the night before the big test!
...I would like to become a Psych Society peer tutor: Please submit your name and psychology courses that you have successfully completed at MtA that you would be willing to tutor for (psychsociety@mta.ca). Please keep in mind that tutoring requires devotion from both the student and the peer tutor. Submit your information if you are keen on committing to this experience. We will contact you if we receive the name of a student who matches with what course you would like to tutor. From here, you may contact this student and arrange to meet and discuss what material they need covered as well as the details such as $$$ and study location and scheduele (ie: once a week, casual, etc).
...I'm not interested in hiring a tutor but would still like extra help with the curriculum: If one-on-one tutoring is not for you, you may consider attending one of our Psych Society help sessions. If you are in Intro Psychology I or II, we would be happy to see you at the Intro Psych Help Group-- we will scheduele an evening help session a few days before Intro Psych midterms and will have a few keen upper year students there to help you with questions you may have on the material covered on that particular midterm. We will also be hosting a APA format help session at some point during the year for all you students out there grinding your teeth at the mention of APA Lab Reports :)
Please remember: visit your professors if you have specific questions about the material covered in your course. They are your #1 resource and would be thrilled to help!
