Psychology Executive 2012-2013

These fabulous Mount A peeps have been chosen as your Psych Exec for this upcoming year!

We're super psyched to get started and make this the best year ever.

Hey everyone, my name is Katie Miller and I am your 2012-2013 Psych Society Co-President! I am a fourth year science student completing an Honors in Psychology. My research examines attitudes towards physician-assisted suicide and hospice palliative care. When I am not working on my thesis, or doing other psychology related activities (such as planning awesome events for this society!) I like to hang out with friends, watch epic tv (think Game of Thrones) and drink good coffee…actually any coffee will do!

I'm hoping to go into Clinical Psychology after graduating and would love to work in a hospital setting with adolescents and young adults. I joined Psych Society because well…I love psychology. Its a great way to meet professors and other students in the faculty, and we have been known to host some pretty delicious potlucks. I can't even tell you how excited I am for the events we're planning, and I hope to meet and get to know all of you in the coming year. please email us at psychsociety@mta.ca.

Hello fellow psych-students!

My name is Kathleen and I am co-president, alongside Katie, of the Psychology Society for the 2012-2013 school year. I am a fourth year student completing my BSc. In Psychology with a minor in Chemistry. Most of my time at Mount Allison is spent on school-work and participating in the many extra-curricular activities I am involved in!

I am excited to be co-president of the Psychology Society and am looking forward to an event-filled year. Please feel free to stop me on campus if you have any psych-related questions or any questions at all really! please email us at psychsociety@mta.ca.

Hey Everyone!

My name is Chris Vizena and I am very excited to be your VP Academic for 2012-2013. I am a fourth year student from Ontario, and I designed my own major in Global Health with minors in Psych, Bio and Biochem. When I'm not in the library working hard, you can find me on the soccer field or hanging out at my favourite restaurant in town Pickles.

My career goals are a huge question mark, but I will definitely be looking to continue on my education after Mount Allison with a Master's in Global Health or Public Health. As your VP Academic, I act as the link between students and faculty on any school-related issues, and I am your go-to-person for all things academic. We will be organizing help sessions, guest speakers, and lots of fun activities and events!

I am really looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can, so if you see me around, don't be a stranger; I love meeting new people! If you have any suggestions or things you would like to see the Psychology Society do for you, feel free to stop me on campus and chat. Have a great year fellow Psych students! please email us at psychsociety@mta.ca.

Hey everyone!

My name is Ally and I'm this year's Fundraising Associate! I'm a third year student majoring in Biology with a minor in Psych. I joined the Psych Society exec this year because I have a passion for psychology and I enjoy meeting and interacting with new people :) In the future I hope to pursue a career in medicine or veterinary medicine – my mind's not quite made up. When my head's not buried in a textbook you can find me volunteering at the local vet clinic, finding new delicious recipes to cook or watching re-runs of Grey's Anatomy!

If you see me around campus, don't hesitate to ask me about our exciting upcoming events! looking forward to meeting you all :)

Hello friends!

My name is Thomas and I am a 3rd year student working toward a B.A. with a major in, you guessed it, psychology! As your VP Social I'll be working with the other executive members to plan some spectacular events ranging from movie nights, trivia, potlucks, and an end-of-year party known as Psychedelic! If you have any questions/suggestions about the Society, courses, or psychology in general feel free to talk to me!

After Mount A (now there's a scary thought!) I intend to pursue graduate studies in speech-language pathology. In the mean time, serving as a student research and teaching assistant is further deepening my love for psychology! When I'm not in class you might find me tutoring kids at the local elementary school, re-declaring my minor for the umpteenth time, or shuffling my (literally) thousands of flash cards in preparation for the next test.

If the surplus of exclamation marks in this write-up didn't already make it clear, I'm more than a little excited for this year! I encourage you all to come out to events, get involved, and don't be aFreud of the exec, we're here to help! :)

Hi everyone!

My name is Desiree Gregory, and I'll be this year's Academic Associate! I'm a third year student from Prince Edward Island, working on a Psychology major and Sociology minor. I'm really excited to be helping out with all things academic this year, and I encourage all of you to get to know the awesome profs in the Psych department! In addition to the Psych society, I'm lucky enough to have been involved with Orientation, Shinerama, Beautiful Minds and the brand new WGST Society.

I'm really looking forward to meeting and working with all of you!

Hello and Welcome!

I'm Tim Wingate, Communications Associate for this year. This marks my fourth and final year as a Mount A. student, and I'll be graduating with a B.A. (Hons) in Psychology.  I look forward to getting to know all of you, and I hope you enjoy the Psych. Society events!

Most of my time is spent in front of text books and papers - living the dream! I aspire to be a researching psychologist at a Canadian university, and to continue researching motivational determinants of academic success. I also act as co-president and coach of the Wrestling Team, T.A. for Advanced Design and Analysis, and volunteer with the SMILE and Change Your Mind groups. Time away from the books is often spent jamming and playing pool with friends, or enjoying a brew at Ducky's.

Here's to a fun and fulfilling year!
