The exceptional artistry and brilliant virtuosity of Janina Fialkowska have won her enthusiastic accolades from audiences and critics worldwide. Chirgilchin <world music>

Brunton Auditorium

Chirgilchin is four musicians from Tuva, a small Russian province near Mongolia. Singing in their native tongue, the group accompanies themselves on hand-made instruments. Atmospheric and mesmerizing, the Tuvan style of ‘throat singing’ produces low guttural sounds with flute-like overtones of haunting beauty. Don’t miss this truly unforgettable event!

 

 

Alpha Yaya Diallo <world music>

Brunton Auditorium

Guinean guitarist and singer Alpha Yaya Diallo is one of the most inspired acts on the world music scene today. Successfully combining traditional African music with contemporary sounds, his guitar playing is melodically and rhythmically compelling, and his singing soulful and expressive. Diallo and his band Bafing will have you dancing in the aisles!

 

 

The McDades <roots music>

The McDades’ Celtic-rooted music fuses the spontaneity of jazz improvisation with infectious global rhythms. Their groundbreaking compositions and innovative arrangements are characterized by stunning virtuosity and near-telepathic interaction on stage.
