Student Health Centre - A division of Student Life

Mount Allison University crest.
Health Care Services are covered by the following:

  • Valid Provincial Health Card for all Canadian Students
  • Mt A University Health Insurance Plan for International Students
  • Cash or cheque for all students without the above coverage

A. Canadian Students studying at Mount Allison are covered by their provincial health insurance, with the exception of the Province of Quebec (the government of Quebec is the only province which has not entered into a reciprocal billing agreement with physicians from other Canadian provinces - click here) while at Mount Allison. This means that if Quebec students need to access a physician while attending Mount Allison, whether it be a physician at the local hospital, community office or at the Mt. Allison Student Health Centre on campus, Quebec students will be requested to pay a physician fee before being seen by the physician and then the receipt can be sent to the province of Quebec health care for reimbursement. However, Mount Allison strongly urges all students to consider acquiring health insurance above and beyond basic medicare or public health care coverage for benefits such as prescriptions, ambulance, vision care and other health practitioners expenses. Many students already have access to private insurance as dependents under parental plans. For those who do not have coverage and who would like their own, or you are a Canadian Student Studying at Mount Allison who is leaving Canada (for travel, study or work abroad), contact:

Some international students may be able to opt-out of purchasing StudentGuard health insurance if they can provide proof of alternate coverage that meets minimum requirements specified by Mount Allison. Questions about health insurance for international students or details about opting-out of the StudentGuard plan should be directed to Allison Broadbent, the International Student Advisor,in the Student Life office.
