Once again, the DMF generated SEM image of a human white blood cell was featured in a National
Institutes of Health (NIH) publication. This time the image appeared on the cover of the September 2010 issue of
Findings as well as being featured in the article
"For Janice: Legacy of a Short Life" (p. 12).

The new Zeiss AxioImager.Z2 fluorescence microscope equipped with an Apotome optical sectioning system
and Colibri monochromatic LED illumination is now installed and available for use. The animation above shows
a 3-D stack of optical sections through a portion of a lily flower rotating about the x-axis
(FITC autofluorescence, 470 nm excitation).

chosen as cover art for the upcoming new edition of The Diatoms: Applications for the Environmental and Earth Sciences
