  1. ‘Green’ your workplace: ask and encourage your employer to purchase environmentally friendly products, as well as products with reduced packaging and, as much as possible, procured from local sources.
  2. Pack a lunch: save money and avoid unnecessary waste from disposable plates and utensils that typically accompany take-out lunches.
  3. Consider the environment before printing that e-mail! Question the need to print a ‘hard copy’ of documents – rather than keeping a binder of e-mails or reports for your records, consider backing them up on an external hard-drive thereby saving both space in office and countless pieces of paper. Furthermore, always print duplex with very limited exceptions (i.e. formal correspondence).
  4. Turn off before exiting! Switch off all lights before leaving a room, and shut down your computer if you’re going to be away from it for more than half an hour.
  5. Stick to the classic cup of coffee: re-think the necessity of drinking individually-packaged, one-cup beverages delivered in the form of pods. Reduce waste in the office by simply brewing a pot of coffee to be shared by all throughout the day!
