  1. Get involved: volunteer with an environmentally focused organization or participate in an environmentally-focused event.
  2. Educate yourself about community resources: make an effort to learn about where your water and power are sourced from, and where your garbage goes when it leaves your house. Take a tour of the Westmoreland-Albert facility!
  3. Attend a community or town council meeting: learn about initiatives that are going on in the surrounding community, such as Sustainable Sackville or Tantramar 2040.
  4. Bring an environmental perspective to events: get involved with something, even if it is not specifically “Green” and encourage the recognition of environmental impacts and alternatives, such as encouraging families to bring reusable cups or dishware to town-wide barbeques, the re-use of streamers and signage, or the use of recycled paper for posters and flyers.
  5. Shop locally: support the Sackville economy and local businesses by purchasing food, services and products from local vendors; reduce impacts from travel by reducing trips to Amherst and Moncton, and transportation of goods by indicating an demand for local food and products.
