Mount Allison University requires students and faculty whose research involves living "human subjects" to pass an ethics review. This review must be completed before research with living people begins. This is to ensure that all research is conducted ethically and does not exploit or endanger people involved in research.
Faculty research, honours projects, and research for programmes of independent study is normally reviewed by the Mount Allison University Research Ethics Board.
Course research is normally reviewed at the programme level.
If you are conducting research that involves living human beings, you should take the time to read over the material provided on the Mount Allison REB web site. [Make a words "Mount Allison REB web site" link to this URL: http://www.mta.ca/Research/com/]
On this web site you will find not simply information, but also templates for ethics review applications (for both the full REB and for programme level review). You will also find examples of informed consent forms and other important material. If you have any questions about ethics review and undergraduate research at Mount Allison University, contact your instructor or the Programme Coordinator
