Teaches: Photography.
Karen Stentaford received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mount Allison University in 1999 and her Bachelor of Education, Visual Arts Specialist, from NSCAD University and Mount Saint Vincent University in 2002. She taught primary and secondary visual arts in Ontario before returning to Mount Allison to take the position of photography technician and part time lecturer.
Working primarily in black and white, in formats ranging from 35mm to 8"x10", Karen's photographs examine structures within the landscape. Among her recent projects, is a series that explores schools built at the turn of the Twentieth Century and their unique presence within the architectural make up of the Atlantic Canadian Region. Her work has been exhibited in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario and can be found in private collections throughout Canada. Karen continues to work with schools through various artist-in-residence programs in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
