Opera Workshop
Directed by Dr. Helen Pridmore, Opera Workshop is an ensemble for singers and pianists interested in learning about opera repertoire. We present excerpts from operas in all styles, staged and with costumes, sets and lighting, usually accompanied by piano.

Occasionally Opera Workshop mounts a full production or even develops entirely new works. Recent productions include performances of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, in collaboration with Windsor Theatre; and the premiere of a Christmas opera for children, The Tailor of Gloucester, which was composed by Dr. Pridmore. In 2006 a creative collaboration with all members of the Workshop resulted in Thaw, a fully staged multi-media musical work.

Members of the Opera Workshop also tour annually in the Maritime region, performing for high school audiences with entertaining and informative presentations of opera.
Opera Workshop is a one-credit course (MUSC 2679 - 4679). Auditions are held early in the fall term and are open to any Mount Allison student. Rehearsals are 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm Mondays and Wednesdays in Brunton Auditorium.
