Great Canadian Debates - Conclusion.

Conclusion
There are many other debates that could have been examined: the confederation process in 1867, prohibition at the turn of the century, the suffrage movement, Canada's neutrality in the interwar period, Canada's relationship with the United States at various times in our history, the use of nuclear arms in Canada, various government policies, the nature of Canada's identity and culture, and the state of Canada's hockey. While the debates over some of these issues have galvanized Canadians for brief periods, others have continued as unresolved matters of public policy. No matter what the debate, it is important that Canadians participate as informed citizens.
