 Percussionist
Michel Deschênes obtained his B.Mus. in performance from the Université de
Moncton; he then pursued graduate studies at McGill University under
Pierre Béluse. He is a fouding member of the percussion quartet
Amerythme, with whom he has toured Canada, France, and Belgium. A winner
of the Acadian cultural prix Éloizes in 1998, as “musical artist
of the year,” he has been active on the Canadian musical
scene, including at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. He has
made many television broadcasts for Radio-Canada and has taken part in
the Jeunesses musicales du Canada “Concertino” series of
youth concerts for over ten years.
Michel Deschênes is also a professor in the Département
de music at the Université
de Moncton.
