BIOLOGY 2601 - GENETICS

Course Description

Genetics is the experimental study of heredity. A genetic system based on nucleic acids unifies all known life. We now have the controversial capacity to alter and recombine genetic material to create genetically modified organisms. We will study inheritance, and the cellular and molecular systems that transmit and express genetic information. The course introduces you to new vocabulary and new concepts. We will discuss some interactions between genetics and society.
