BIOLOGY 3401 - ANIMAL BEHAVIOUR

Course Description

An introduction to the biological study of animal behaviour through lectures, laboratory sessions, and films. Emphasis in lecture will be placed on proximate mechanisms of behaviour, evolution of behaviour, behavioural ontogeny, migration, foraging, antipredation, communication, social behaviour and reproductive behaviour. Laboratory exercises will emphasize the observation, description and quantification of behaviour in a variety of animal species.
