| BIOLOGY 3991A - BIOLOGY OF MIGRATION |
![]() |
Course Description Integrative biology combines diverse perspectives — molecular, physiological, morphological, behavioral — to seek broad and complementary explanations for biological phenomena. This course will examine migration, with a focus on birds. We’ll consider connections between organismal physiology, mechanisms of control and functional performance, and we’ll use a comparative approach. The course format will be a mixture of lecture, discussion and student-led seminars. Approximately half of the reading and discussion will focus on interpreting and analyzing the primary research literature. Students will write a research proposal, building upon the topics discussed. |
