Research interests:

Most of my research is focused on behavioral pharmacology, addictions, and personality. Specifically, I am interested in how addictive substances (e.g., nicotine) influence craving for gambling, gambling behaviour, and physiological markers of reinforcement in non-problem and pathological gamblers. Other gambling-related interests include investigating the role that underlying motives for gambling have on the etiology, course, and maintenance of pathological gambling. I am also interested in the influence of personality characteristics on general substance use risk, tobacco dependence, and pathological gambling. I have secondary research interests in the areas of perfectionism and materialism. Much of my work to date has been funded by the Ontario Problem Gambling Research Centre (OPGRC), the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation (NSHRF), and Gambling Awareness Nova Scotia (GANS).
