The Copenhagen Business School was welcoming and provided
me with the opportunity to take different classes from the
ones offered at Mount Allison, taught by international professors.
As it was the summer programme, I took only two classes:
"Advertising and children and "New product development."
But there was lots of time outside class for touring around
the city and participating in the really fun social events
and trips organized by a group of regular term students.
These included trips to other parts of Denmark, and a weekend
to Berlin.
Looking back at my time in Copenhagen, there are several
things that I will keep with me for life. The first is the
experience of living in a different country, which was exciting
and unlike anything else I have experienced (and because
it is one of the only opportunities I will have to do that).
I will also keep the friendships I made with the other students
from all over the world. I still send emails to many of
them and hope to visit them as soon as I get the chance.
I grew personally through this experience, learning more
about myself and what I am capable of doing.
My time there flew by far too quickly. I would return in
a heartbeat."
• Eric, a Norway exchange student.
"In the winter semester of my third year I went on
an exchange to BI, the Norwegian School of Management in
Olso. This was absolutely one of the best experiences of
my life here at MTA.
I was the only student from MTA to go on this exchange so
it was definitely nerve racking but exciting none the less.
The eight hour flight seemed to last forever. I was met
by another exchange student who had already been there for
a semester and he brought me to Kringsha, where I would
be living. I arrived a few days before school started so
I was able to get my bearings, meet many of the other exchange
students living in Kringsha, and go to Ikea. Before classes
started all of the exchange students got together to make
everyone feel welcome. There were just over a hundred exchange
students from across the world.
I took four courses; Scandinavian work life and management,
Logistics, Service Marketing, and Financial statements and
valuation. All of these courses were very interesting; my
only complaint is that the grades were 100% final or 50/50
midterm and final.
If you are thinking of going on an exchange GO!! And here
is why. You will be meeting new people, having a great time,
and traveling. The first trip I went on was a cruise to
Copenhagen, Denmark with 25 others. This is where we really
got to know each other and it was a blast. My next adventure
was in Italy. We flew into Bergamo (close to Milan), went
to Venice, and then to Turin to watch the Olympics. There
was also a ski trip set up by BI for us, which was a lot
of fun even if you don't ski. My last trip was to Ireland,
Scotland, England, and the Czech Republic. There were a
few of us traveling together and they continued on but I
had to go back to Oslo because I had a football game.
I enjoyed my time so much because of the people I met at
BI and in Oslo that I decided to stay for the summer. I
played football for the Oslo Vikings and worked for Den
Flyven Tallarken (The Flying Plate) putting up large party
tents and delivering everything needed to throw a party.
I still keep in touch with many of the friends I met in
Oslo and can't wait to go back."
