The students presented the results of their research
at a Poster Presentation reception on the evening of November
24. Posters represented organizations as diverse as the
Terry Fox Foundation, Air Canada, Bombardier and the Royal
Ontario Museum. Fourth year Strategic Management students
attended the reception and assessed the posters, posing
questions and offering constructive feedback. In addition,
each team also submitted a full report on the results
of their research.
Prizes were awarded to the top four posters:
First Prize:
• Virgin Atlantic (Students: Samantha Lebans, Amanda Burns,
Will Nelson, Mike Smith)
Second Prize:
• Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (Students: Jen Jackson,
Mandy Burgess, Greg Stewart, Mark McCumber)
Third Prize (tie):
• CBC (Students: Pippa Gherson, Mike McKinnon, Jason Patterson,
Ryan Kay)
• Sobeys (Students: Ray Mason, Melanie Landry, Christine

ARTiFACTS: 60 and counting ...
Students in Dr. Rosemary Polegato's fourth year Arts and
Culture Management course collect information about the
arts sector in Canada and present it in a two page profile.
Over the past two years, 60 students have contributed
profiles of visual artists, performance artists, museums
and galleries, festivals and events, heritage and arts
associations. The profiles provide information through
text and visuals about the likes of Brian Burke, Mary
Pratt the Group of Seven, Karen Kain, Ship’s Company Theatre,
the Nova Scotia Museum, the Miramichi Irish Festival and
the Toronto International Film Festival. The ARTiFACTS
assignment has been presented at two conferences, and
colleagues in other disciplines have adapted the concept
for their courses.
