Are you interested in public policy? Looking
to make a difference in your community? Then the ESPRIT Lab is the place
for you!
As part of its mandate in research, education and citizen engagement, the
ESPRIT Lab offers programs in the Sociology department that are designed
to lead you to a greater knowledge of and involvement in the understanding
and analysis of social problems and public policy.
See what previous interns said about their experience working in the ESPRIT
LAB:
I really liked the way the assignments applied sociological concepts to
life. I now have a much better idea of what a sociologist does in the real
world, and why they're valuable. I also liked the fact that we got to cover
one subject in great detail, which is always an enjoyable change from the
traditional general tone of first year classes.
I thought it was a great project, and certainly not something I had ever
encountered before. It was enjoyable and educational, especially because
the issues are so relevant.
The internship tasks were fun to do, like the brochure; so it wasn't always
just writing papers. The assignments were educational. It really taught
me how to look at certain issues from a sociological perspective.
The internship project was a great idea, I learned so much about social
problems and finally understand the social implications behind it. I feel
that now I am more enlightened about the treatment of different races or
classes.
The internship project was great. Great way to make use of new ideas and
concepts. Great way to show possible career paths with sociology.
I liked the internship. I did enjoy the tasks because I was learning something
new every time we did a task. This class also helped with library research
skills.
I really enjoyed the topic of the of the internship project and I liked
how it gave us an idea what work in this field could involve in the future.
The tasks were fun and they gave the course a little twist on what other
courses usually do. They were very educational because they were hands on
and gave us a taste of things we could be doing if we were to persue a career
in sociology.
