Sociological Theory Videos

Return to Berkeley Fleming's faculty page

There are many video clips on the web on various social theorists. They range in length from a few seconds to 45 or more minutes.  Some are student productions, and some are pretty deadly lectures. Many are in languages other than English or French. Some are interesting, nevertheless.  (Italian, Spanish, and even Portuguese ones can be followed roughly, if one has a modicum of French.)

I have listed below freely available social theorist videos that I have discovered so far that merit watching. I would be happy to hear of others.

A. Weber
B. Marx
C. Durkheim
D. Comte, Spencer, and Durkheim
E. Miscellaneous

A. Weber

So far, I have found three helpful videos on Max Weber.

B. Marx

There are a substantial number of videos (some are actually audios) concerning Karl Marx.

  • Karl Marx Biography (notwithstanding the confusing opening, which is almost remedied by the hilarious ending in any case) (8:03)

C. Durkheim

D. Comte and Spencer

E. Miscellaneous

Four audio clips and one video concerning Antonio Gramsci.
