The Women’s and Gender Studies Program organizes events for the International Campaign Against Gender Violence (25 November – 10 December), Women’s History Month (October), and International Women’s Day / Week (March 8).  Renowned feminist scholars and activists visiting campus as Guest Speakers on such occasions have included:  Cynthia Enloe, Alison Prentice, Rita Deverell, Judy Rebick and Ailbhe Smyth.

WGST also supports and assists the President’s Advisory Committee on Women’s Issues (PACWI) with activities commemorating December 6 (also known as the Montreal Massacre, Dec. 6, 1989).    

Half The Sky Documentary and Panel - Dunn Building, room 108 January 17, 7:00 pm

Half the Sky is a movement about turning oppression into opportunity for women worldwide. A condensed version of the documentary, titled Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide will be shown, followed by a panel discussing the issues in the film with Drs Oliver and Hammond Callaghan.
