Flu Season is Coming.... The Wellness Centre at Mount Allison University is once again making available to current students, staff and faculty a seasonal influenza (flu) vaccination clinic to be held in November. There are categories of individuals who may qualify for publicly funded vaccination at no charge. Please read the following criteria carefully at the following (LINK BELOW), as you will need to notify the Wellness Centre receptionist at 364-2163 if you qualify for a free vaccine when you book your appointment. If you do not qualify, there will be a $15.00 charge for the vaccine. According to Health Canada, the seasonal flu vaccine can significantly decrease the chances of individuals getting sick with the seasonal flu and is said to be 70-90% effective in preventing the seasonal flu in healthy adults. Combined with regular hand washing, the seasonal flu shot is the best way to protect yourself and others from the virus. Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization encourages all Canadians over age six months to get a seasonal flu shot. It is also particularly important for health professionals to be immunized to protect themselves and their patients/clients.
