Mount Allison University Libraries and Archives invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Public Services Librarian. This is a half-time (17.5 hours/week) twelve-month appointment commencing July 1, 2013. Hiring is subject to budgetary approval.

Duties

As a member of the Public Services team, responsibilities will include reference service, collection development for selected subjects, information literacy instruction, and the development of reference and instructional materials. The successful candidate may also be assigned responsibilities in other areas befitting the Libraries' priorities and dependent on the successful candidate's strengths and expertise. Shift duties for reference service include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications and requirements

Qualifications for this position include an MLIS or equivalent from an ALA accredited library school. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in reference service, information literacy instruction, and collection development in an academic environment. The successful candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; a strong public service centred philosophy; and a keen interest in reference, collection development, teaching, and outreach in a collegial environment. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with government information, or commerce and economics. A background in geography, environmental studies, German literature, linguistics, or law, or a graduate degree in a related subject area, are also assets.

This position is represented by the Mount Allison Faculty Association and participation and involvement in scholarship, teaching and service is expected. The appointment will be made at the rank of General Librarian. Salary will be within the established range and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will have a professional designation in accounting, and preferably a Master's degree in accounting or business. Additional professional experience will be valuable. The Department of English Literatures at Mount Allison University invites applications for a one year term position, subject to budgetary approval. Candidates should be versatile and dedicated teachers with a PhD or near completion with primary research and teaching experience in the field of Gender & Literature, with secondary expertise in Early Canadian Literature. The successful candidate should be able to teach an introductory survey (Introduction to Principles of Literary Analysis), a second-year survey of literary history (Literary Periods, 1800-Present), and three third-year courses: Literature by Women to the Twentieth Century, Literature by Women in the Twentieth Century, and Canadian Literature from the Beginnings to 1914. The Mount Allison University Department of Anthropology invites applications for a full-time nine month position. The appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor and will commence August, 2013, subject to budgetary approval.

The Centre for Canadian Studies at Mount Allison University invites applications for a non-renewable two-year postdoctoral fellowship. Applicants should have a recently completed Ph. D., or be near completion by the time the appointment takes effect on 1 July 2013, pending budget approval. Prospective candidates should be developing a research programme in a relevant Canadian Studies field. The field of research is open, but the Centre particularly encourages applications from those whose scholarship focuses on critical issues in contemporary Canadian public life. Canadian Studies at Mount Allison is committed to a scholarly engagement with Canadian experiences that encompass diversity of: indigenety, gender, ethnicity, languages, social class, and regionalism, among others.

The successful candidate will teach at all levels of Mount Allison's academic programme in Canadian Studies and will be involved in the Centre's research, publication, and conference programmes.
