Mentor Expectations
- Make the initial contact with your mentee. This will normally take place prior to their arrival to Mount Allison University as they may have many questions about life in Sackville and at Mount Allison. You may contact your mentee via email until you have established the best form of contact (which may be by phone, text, Facebook, MSN, alternate emails, etc).
- Be available when your mentee arrives.
- Sign a tri-party confidentiality agreement with your mentor and the International Center.
- Introduce your mentee to programs and services available at Mount Allison.
- Act as the go-to-person and, when necessary, direct your mentee to appropriate departments.
- Attend the Annual “Activities Fair” with your mentee.
- Attend a Cross-Cultural Workshop with your mentee.
- Attend at least 2 of four events organized by the mentorship program with your mentee.
- Show your mentee around campus and around Sackville.
- Meet your mentee regularly.
- Complete two mentor reports and attend 1-2 mentor meetings.
- Have Fun and make a new friend!
If you no longer wish to be a part of the program (due to conflicts in schedules, personalities, interests, etc) you must advise the Mentorship Program Coordinator immediately so that we may provide your mentor with a new mentee.
