Student Success Mount Allison is committed to preparing students for all that life has to offer. Our ability to attract and support the best students has a profound impact on the lives of professors and fellow students, creating a wonderfully enriched learning environment. To date, we have nurtured 47 Rhodes Scholars, which we believe to be the highest number in the British Commonwealth, on a per capita basis. We believe good citizenship is critical to success in today’s world. Students will emerge from Mount Allison with a strong sense of themselves — with a solid disciplinary base, strong oral and writing skills, a sophisticated capacity to think and reason, confident social and leadership skills, and an urge to make an important contribution to society. It is crucial that we raise the funds needed to enable us to attract the brightest and best students to Mount Allison, regardless of their financial circumstances. Academic Enhancement Mount Allison is also fortunate to have many award-winning professors. We encourage our highly accomplished faculty members and our intellectually curious students to develop innovative collaborations, which inevitably stimulate excellence in the classroom and exciting new research. Much of this research includes students at Mount Allison who have the rare privilege during their undergraduate years of working directly with professors. This prepares our students as outstanding candidates for graduate school and the world of work. We seek resources that will enable us to continue to enhance academic opportunities within the treasured learning environment that is equal to none — Mount Allison University. |

Centre for Business Studies Our new Centre for Business Studies will build on our academic program in Commerce, supported by the research of faculty and students, co-curricular programs, and service-based involvement. Cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary programs will include integrating business studies with the arts and the environment, as well as observing concepts of sustainability and globalization. This endeavour will ensure that the changing needs of both students and employers are met and will create improved connections to regional and national business communities. In particular, Mount Allison will continue to nurture the ideals of good corporate citizenship by providing students with exceptional experiential learning opportunities. Fine and Performing Arts Centre We acknowledge that people, not buildings, are the producers of creativity; however, we also believe that creativity is best fostered within a superior and positive learning environment. We must ensure that our facilities meet the needs of our students and faculty. The most ambitious endeavour of this Campaign will be the creation of a new Fine and Performing Arts Centre that will build on Mount Allison’s rich history in the arts. This Centre will draw in various communities — local, regional, national, and international — to celebrate the fine and performing arts and to bring an enriched level of creative activity to both the campus and the surrounding region. |

The Greening of Mount Allison Building on the impetus of our students, Mount Allison has established itself as an early leader of environmentally conscious programs and activities. Several innovative and award-winning initiatives include the annual student-run “Climate Change Challenge”; expansion of our sustainable residence; and national recognition of our Campbell Hall residence for its energy-efficient design that exceeds national energy codes by 30 per cent. We have demonstrated our value in environmental issues by drawing upon ground-breaking research and innovative teaching and by creating new interdisciplinary programs in environmental science and environmental studies. Our students, faculty, and staff are conscious of the way we live and learn and, accordingly, are dedicated to sustaining and improving the health of our planet. Mount Allison and the World We believe in creating global citizens. Mount Allison’s international relations program is steadily expanding. Through our strong program of international experiential learning opportunities, Mount Allison students can study in countries such as France, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, China, Japan, Norway, and Germany. Students at Mount Allison come from approximately 50 different countries. We want to build on this and continue to bring the world to our campus. By internationalizing our curriculum we are encouraging international students to make Mount Allison their destination of choice. |
