Guidelines for the Mansbridge Internship

Application Information:

Mansbridge Interns are selected by the Leadership Mount Allison Adjudication Committee, which is comprised of representatives from faculty, students, and staff. Interns are responsible for all aspects of their internship, including meeting the requirements of the sponsoring organization, if any, and arranging public presentations/implementation of educational programming upon their return to Mount Allison. The completed application form must include:

1. A description of the internship, including the community the intern will visit, the name and address of the sponsoring organization (if any) and a draft budget detailing the cost of the internship including travel, accommodations, living expenses, etc.   Note:  It is acceptable for the budget to include an amount, which will be “paid” to the student from the Internship award.  The Internship recognizes the need for many students to have income over the summer to assist with the following year’s study costs.

2. A statement of the learning outcomes to be achieved and measured during the internship

3. A description of how the proposal will provide an experience that meets the requirements of the MANSBRIDGE Internship

4. Plans for sharing the experience with the Mount Allison community upon return

5. Outcome and assessment measurements that will be applied to evaluate the effectiveness of the internship in terms of academic, experiential, and leadership learning

End of Internship Report/Follow-up:

At the end of the Mandsbridge Internship, the intern shall submit a report providing a synopsis of the experience, including an assessment of how the internship met the stated learning outcomes in the internship proposal. The end-of-internship report must be submitted within one month of the internship being concluded. Failure to do so may result in the revocation of the internship and return of funds provided.
