
Guidelines for the Mansbridge Internship
The Leadership Mount Allison Program is pleased to acknowledge the support of Peter Mansbridge, our University Chancellor, honorary degree holder, and CBC News chief correspondent, through the establishment of the Mansbridge Internship which is designed to provide Mount Allison students with a unique leadership development opportunity. Each year the Internship will provide $10,000 to a student in their 3rd year of academic studies.
The Mansbridge Internship will:
1.Build on both academic and extracurricular interests
2.Enrich the intern’s academic and experiential learning
3.Develop essential leadership skills and abilities
4.Provide an employment, research, volunteer (or a combination thereof) experience to the intern by requiring the intern to develop, plan and implement their internship and follow-up activities and by including travel to communities outside the student’s normal experience
SELECTION IS BASED ON THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Students in their 3rd of academic studies at time of application for the internship or who will be in their 3rd year of studies during the period of the internship (Students who are not returning to Mount Allison upon completion of the internship are not eligible to apply)
2. Minimum SGPA of 3.2
3. Internship plan includes a community service component
4. Internship plan must outline an original area of experience and/or research and must not be based on continuing an existing internship/employment/research experience.
