The
Mount Allison University Archives provides access to its photographic
and documentary art records for use as reference material. Reproductions
of any photographic and visual records held by the Mount Allison University
Archives will be arranged by the Archivist, subject to any restrictions
that may apply to specific records. Photographic
reproduction costs of any material held by the Mount Allison University
Archives are in accordance with the current price schedules available
on request. Reproductions are not supplied on approval. All reproductions
are made to order and clients will be invoiced accordingly. The recipient of photographic reproductions is responsible for determining whether the material is subject to copyright, and for ascertaining the name of the person or organization holding the copyright. The recipient is also responsible for determining whether the use of any photographic and visual record does or does not constitute an infringement of copyright under the Copyright Act. Upon request, the Mount Allison University Archives will endeavour to provide recipients with the copyright status of photographic and visual records in its holdings, as well as the name of the person or organization holding the copyright when this information is known to the Archives. Failure to provide such information does not mean that the photographic or visual records are not subject to copyright. The Mount
Allison University Archives gives consent to the use of material for which
it holds copyright subject to any restrictions which may apply.
The credit line for each photographic reproduction supplied by the Archives must include the photographer or artist (if known), the name Mount Allison University Archives and the copy negative number appearing on the reproduction. An example of this citation would be: Photographer or artist/Mount Allison University Archives/000103. Any alteration to the material, such as cropping or retouching must be indicated in the credit line by using the words: "detail" or "based on". The use of a credit when publishing material still under copyright is not a substitute for obtaining the prior consent to publish from the copyright holder. For diffusion on television, movie film, videotape, or slide presentation, a single credit to the Mount Allison University Archives in the acknowledgement is acceptable. |
