C. W. Jefferys

85th Battery at Firing Practice spacer C.W. Jefferys (1869-1951) was born in Chatham, England and moved to Toronto in 1881. Unable to go overseas, he was commissioned by the Canadian War Records to paint the soldiers training at Camp Petawawa and at Niagara. Following the end of his commission, Jefferys continued on as an instructor at the University of Toronto. Following his retirement in 1939 he continued to produce illustrations and murals.
