Included below are a few library resources you may not yet know about. Adam Matthew DigitalLooking forward to a summer trip to Europe or Asia? Wondering how your experiences might compare to travelers in the 15th century? Why not browse the extensive collection of medieval travel writing available in digital format in the Mount Allison Libraries Adam Matthew Digital database? This database provides access to manuscripts dating from the 13th to 16th centuries held in libraries around the world. The main focus of these manuscripts is accounts of European travelers to the Holy Land, India and China. Here’s the next best thing: you can watch the entire play from home via the Mount Allison Libraries Theatre in Video database. Theatre in Video makes available in online streaming video over 250 definitive performances of some of the world’s best known plays and more than 100 film documentaries. How about the collected works of Ludwig Wittgenstein or Mary Wollstonecraft? Or the letters of Jonathan Swift or Jane Austen? You can access all of these texts and many more from the comfort of your home via the Mount Allison Libraries Intelex Past Masters database. Past Masters provides digital access to the complete works of dozens of key figures in the humanities and social sciences and may be accessed from the Library’ Indexes and Databases page: http://www.mta.ca/library/per_indexes_title.html#i. SciFinder ScholarInterested in the latest fads in herbal medicine? Want to know more about new cancer treatments? SciFinder is a research discovery tool that allows you to explore the Chemical Abstracts Society (CAS) databases that contain literature from many scientific disciplines, including biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, materials science, agricultural science, and more. Coverage varies but can extend back to the 1890's. SciFinder provides access to CAPlus (1907-present) and MEDLine (1950-present). CAPlus is the electronic version of Chemical Abstracts and MEDLine is the digital version of Index Medicus. A search for cancer results in over 754,000 entries from MEDLine and more than 464,000 entries from CAPlus.
