ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH:
Walter I. Dixon (1872-1963) was the son of Samuel Edgar and
Emma (Carter) Dixon, and grandson of James D. Dixon, descendants
of Charles and Susannah (Coates) Dixon, Yorkshire settlers
who emigrated to Sackville, New Brunswick in 1772. He was
educated in the Sackville schools and Mount Allison Academy.
He was a farmer, and lived in his grandfather's home on Charles
Street, the property including all the land where Beal Heights
is today. He also owned property to the east of Sackville
situated across the Trans Canada Highway and near the Tantramar
River, and various pieces of marsh land.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:
Fonds was in the continuous custody of members of the Dixon family.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS:
Fonds consists of a cashbook containing a record of Walter
I. Dixon's personal family expenses (July 1899-July
1902); and a record of payments for wages, dyking machine,
and materials for repairing and building dykes for the Island
Marsh Body No. 5 (July 1916-August 1918), the King's Marsh
District No. 7 (1922-1929), and the Spectacle Marsh Body
No. 12 (1914-1918, 1933-1940).
